Nathaniel Hawthorne (July 4, 1804- May 19, 1864) was an American novelist and writer. His work generally features moral allegories and are considered to be a part of the Romantic Movement, more specifically dark romanticism. His themes often focus on evil and sin with deeper, complex, moral messages . Hawthorne's use of literary devices in his novels and short stories make him an exceptional writer.
